Correspondence to and from Hickey and other Strangite Mormons including C.J. Strang, son of James and Elvira Strang, 1845-1897, mostly about religious matters. Includes a typed transcript of and photocopies of the original hand written correspondence. Also included are Hickey's death certificate and obituary, conference minutes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Oakland County (Mich.), Jan. 24-25, 1845, and extracts from Zions Reville, Feb. 4, and March 11, 1847, about Hickey. See also the Church of Jesus Christ (Strangites) Collection, 1843-1982, in the Clarke which contains more Hickey material.

Hickey (born on Feb. 15, 1817 in Palmyra, NY and died on April 25, 1897 in Coldwater, MI) was a prominent preacher and leader of the Strangite Mormon Church following the death of James Jesse Strang. A polygamist, he married at least three wives, Mrs. Ann Davis, on Dec. 9, 1841, with whom he had three children; Francis Miller, with whom he had three children; and Sarah Ann Linnell (born on Nov. 11, 1834) with whom he had ten children.
